Our people

The plant employs more than 4,252 people, 91% of whom are women, and just 7 are Italian. The small number of expat workers is indicative of the country’s interest in offering local employees the opportunity for professional development and to manage the factory. This is confirmed by the on-going offer of technical, soft skills, leadership and team-building training courses for all employees. In addition to training, all workers are also offered performance assessments, designed to reward the most deserving employees with salary rises and promotions.

Benefits for employees

All our employees enjoy free access to medical facilities, loans at special rates, free transport and access to the company restaurant at a symbolic price. All employees can use the gym, football and cricket pitches and volleyball court located in the green area of the plant.

Respect for the environment

All lighting throughout the plant has been replaced with LED technology, in order to boost efficiency and reduce the consumption of electrical energy. In addition, a five-year investment of € 1.7 million has been made for the installation of a photovoltaic plant of around 2100 kW.

#whomademyclothes

The people who work for us have always been our most valuable resource, and no presentation of our factories would be complete without a word from them. Here are the stories of those who produce our items every day:

Sugandi

My name is Sugandi, and I live in Negombo, about twenty kilometres from Omega Line. I love travelling, especially with my family or a group of friends. In the plant, I work as a technician on the production team, and my main task...

is to perfect the quality of the clothing, by preventing any kind of hiccups.
I started working in Omega in 2013, in the quality control department, after which I was soon promoted to head of my group, before taking up the position I hold today. My objective for the future is to keep on improving in my career, doing my very best to carry out the tasks entrusted to me.

between personal life and work: it’s the only way we can give our best in both areas.
I always find it hard to describe what I do to my friends, because I cover a number of different production areas, but my main task is to control quality in the sewing department, remedying any technical errors that might occur during the production stages. I can’t do all this on my own, so I coordinate 14 people, each of whom is the head of their team.
My experience in Omega began in 2004. I had heard from my friends about a new, highly efficient factory in Sandalankawa, just a few kilometres from my home, so I decided to apply for a job there. It’s been years now since my first day here, and when I think back, I realise how much has changed and how many improvements there have been in the factory in terms of efficiency and quality.
