Our people

In the 20 years since the factory’s foundation, employee numbers have risen from 60 to 985 and 90% of them are women. There are no expats at the plant, so most of the coordination and management of operations is in the hands of local employees. Thanks to its experience and proximity to the headquarters, Zalli plays a very important role in the company’s supply chain, guaranteeing high-quality items and versatile processes for a variety of goods categories.

Benefits for employees

The plant is now one of the largest in Bulgaria, and is renowned for the employment and development opportunities it offers all its employees. The company offers a large number of employee benefits, such as free language and training courses, transport to the factory and medical and counselling services for all staff. In the many green areas around the plant, a football pitch and basketball court have also been built, and are used during lunch breaks in spring and in the evenings, at the end of shifts.

Attention to the community

Zalli is known in the district for contributing to the organisation of the city’s annual festival, and for sponsoring the football and handball youth teams. The factory also donates healthcare materials to local hospitals.

Respect for the environment

In July 2020, the factory obtained certification for the use of 100% renewable electrical energy, and in 2021, all the lights were replaced with LED technology, with the aim of making energy consumption more efficient. In addition, as much waste as possible is separated and recycled in the plant, and work is under way to replace plastic with biodegradable materials. With a view to improving the working environment for employees, an outdoor recreation area has been created, in which over 100 trees have been planted.

The people who work for us have always been our most valuable resource, and no presentation of our factories would be complete without a word from them. Here are the stories of those who produce our items every day:

area, and it was thanks to the attention paid to the environment and the people who work there, as well as the punctual payments, that I decided to apply for a job as a seamstress two years ago.
I was immediately assisted by a specialist, who taught me all the techniques and tricks of the trade. I like how dynamic this work is, and the relationship I have with my colleagues and my superiors. When I first got here, I was very impressed with the organisation and the technologies used, and above all, I liked being in the green area, a place just behind the football pitch where I can go and have lunch with my colleagues.
For me, Zalli represents stability: the factory is well known throughout Gabrovo for its working hours, quality, and the opportunities for professional development it offers a lot of women. I also liked the fact that even someone who can’t sew can be hired and trained. My aim now is to improve my sewing abilities even further. It’s really nice to think that the clothes we produce here are worn by people all over the world.

in the textile sector, and I used to work in the sewing area. Twelve years ago, I found out there was a new job going in Zalli, in the cutting department, and I applied. I’ve been working in the factory since then, and I can say that I’ve watched it grow. In the early years, there were 7 or 8 people working per shift in my department, and now there are more than 25 of us.
My work involves handling the automatic machine that cuts the fabrics, which is essential for guaranteeing quality and containing the costs of the items produced. In addition, I can stand in if a supervisor is unavailable, because I’ve taken training courses that have allowed me to learn more and offered me more opportunities.
